Hipsters Battle for Apple Pie Supremacy
Enid’s, home of the ultimate hipster brunch and possibly the borough’s best Bloody Mary, is throwing down the gauntlet to the neighborhood’s would-be bakers with its Annual Apple Pie Bake-Off. Backed by The Brooklyn Kitchen (home of Tom Mylan’s infamous pig butchering class) and judged by such neighborhood luminaries as senior online editor for Food & Wine Rachel Wharton, Brooklyn Kitchen co-owner Harry Rosenblum, and Emily Farris, author of “Casserole Crazy: Hot Stuff for Your Oven,” the contest promises plenty of pie, drink specials and tunes from DJ Jonathan Toubin (who spins regularly at downtown scene staples like Santo’s Party House, Beauty Bar and Home Sweet Home). The bake-off takes place on Sunday, October 19, with pies due at 6pm. Oh how will you svelte Williamsburg residents fit into your tight, tight jeans after this!
