Peering Into the Future (Midtown Edition)
Gastrodamus, seer and soothsayer, can alone see into the future of the restaurant business. I have foresuffered all, and dread the coming of the inevitable. In the coming months:
❶ Josh De Chellis, the immensely gifted chef whose food nobody ate at Sumile and Barfry, will soon return to the scene as the chef of a major Spanish restaurant in Midtown. It will be the first such restaurant to actually succeed. Possibly.
❷ A chef change may be in the works at a major midtown restaurant, which will shock the world! The restaurant has undergone a major critical recrudescence and is doing good business. My vision clouds, however, when I try to see when or even if this change happens. This one is cloudier.
❸ Within one month, Will Goldfarb will have the food editor of the Fiji News believing that a major chocolate dessert revolution is at hand.
❹ Almond will break the curse of 22nd Street. Then a new curse will emerge on 23rd Street.
Have a question about the future? Submit it to Gastrodamus. He will attempt to penetrate the fog of futurity.
