The Deets On Cafe Boulud’s Revamp

According to the official announcement, here’s the deal with Cafe Boulud’s revamp, reported earlier today on Eater: “The refreshed interior design will be the world of Jeffrey Beers, whose goal is to maintain Cafe Boulud’s club-like intimacy….with the addition of new fabrics and finishes. When we reopen our doors in late September, we will unveil not only our new interiors but also an entirely new bar and two small private dining rooms, each seating up to 14 guests. We are able to add the latter to our existing space thanks to additional area acquired from the ground floor of the Surrey Hotel, also currently completing a thorough renovation.”  From our point of view, this couldn’t come soon enough. The food at Cafe Boulud is superb, among the best in town, but the room was strictly a snooze. Bad enough that there was scaffolding hiding it from the world, and a clientele of East Side grandees instead of the younger gastronomes who are currently missing out on it. Hopefully this will do the trick. Now if we could just find a way to move it downtown!
