New Village Pourhouse Will Pay for Your Cab

The new Columbia outpost of the Village Pourhouse really wants you to make the trip to the Upper West Side, but they understand that no one wants to spend an hour on the 1 train or dip into the rent booze money to cover a $20 cab ride. That’s why they’ve come up with this rather interesting concept:

Village Pourhouse on the Upper West Side has implemented a new policy. If you take a cab to visit the new spot, the Pourhouse will match your cab fare in the form of a bar tab. For instance, if you are on the LES on a Saturday night and you are ready for a change of scene, but can’t imagine coughing up the dough for a cab to the Upper West Side, have no fear. Direct the cabby to Amsterdam between 108th and 109th, ask for a receipt when you arrive, and the bartender will start your tab with a credit for the same amount as your fare.

As the press release goes on to say, “you have nothing to lose”–except your sobriety. And the cost of the cab ride home. But by then you’ll be so tanked you won’t care.

Are you kidding? This is an insane deal… So I can go out downtown and take a cab home to have some free drinks?? Is this true??

It’s true- tried it yesterday. you just hand them your receipt and they check for date and time to make sure you just rde the taxi there and then they take that amount off your tab. I paid $7 to get there and my tab was $21 so i only paid $14 for 2 beers and a drink.
Good job V pourhouse. best idea i’ve seen in a while

The stipulations are super simple - It’s up to $25 and can be from anywhere in NYC to the Pourhouse…Oh yeah and it’s only NYC taxi cabs (aka no livery cabs where you can write in your own amount)

Yeah I went there the other night and spoke to the bartender and he told me the same thing.. and I think they are doing until March at the latest so take advantage now, its really the best deal ever.

Tried this deal last night- the cap is $25 which pretty much allows you to go anywhere in nyc and then take a cab back. works for me.
