Chef John McAllister Out at Charles

The Charles, the exclusive West Village restaurant painted by our peers as a Waverly Inn for young toffs, has hit its first rough patch, losing its chef, John McAllister just a few weeks after opening. McAllister, we are told, has left the restaurant on good terms to pursue other opportunities — a characterization owner Cobi Levy confirms. No word yet on who the new chef will be, or what role Waverly Inn chef John DeLucie, who consulted on Charles, will play in the restaurant in the meantime.
